Worship Leaders And Elder Qualifications

Sam from Worship360 suggests a list of worship leader qualifications that looks pretty familiar:

Obviously, we are looking for people who are gifted, committed and called to music ministry. But there are other qualifications that we are looking for too. We don’t always think of it this way, but according to this list (I grabbed from a another church’s blog) worship leaders should have the same qualifications that the bible gives in the New Testament for pastors and elders. It’s a high standard, but one that we need to hold to as leaders.

Here’s the whole list…

What do you think about using Paul’s elder qualifications for worship team members?

  1. I was just reading in Acts 6:2-6, where I think we find one of the best comparables:

“So the twelve summoned the congregation of the disciples and said, ‘It is not desirable for us to neglect the word of God in order to serve tables. Therefore, brethren, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task. But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.’ The statement found approval with the whole congregation; and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and [names of others]. And these they brought before the apostles; and after praying, they laid their hands on them.”

This for serving tables! So how much more for leading people to the throne? Good thoughts!
