For Every Worship Leader…

Worship leaders get a bad rap sometimes. Ego. Skinny jeans. Showing off. But I have a theory.

For every worship leader who’s only doing music for the church until he makes it big… There are countless worship leaders selflessly volunteering week in and week out.

For every worship leader who’s trying to sell his new album in the church bookstore… There are countless worship leaders who have written songs that they’re afraid to share with their congregations.

For every worship leader who puts on a show and makes it about himself… There are countless worship leaders who love to hear the voices of their congregations singing praises to God.

For every worship leader who wants to be a rock star… There are countless worship leaders are grateful for the chance to serve the local church.

For every worship leader who refuses to play any song older than three years… There are countless worship leaders who are thankful for great songs from across the generations.

For every worship leader who wears skinny jeans and ridiculous scarves… There are countless worship leaders who dress appropriately and pray that their appearance won’t be a distraction.

For every worship leader who wants a killer guitar solo… There are countless worship leaders who love to hear the congregation singing a cappella.

For every worship leader who fights his pastor to get his own way… There are countless worship leaders who humbly and willingly submit to the leadership in their church.

For every worship leader who has a giant ego… There are countless worship leaders who struggle with insecurity and wonder if they really even belong on the platform.

For every worship leader who picks arrangements to show off his vocal skills… There are countless worship leaders who strive to choose songs and keys that the congregation can do well.

For every worship leader who’s doing it wrong… There are countless worship leaders who are trying their hardest to do it right.

  1. This is so very true. My honest prayer is to NEVER take myself too seriously…and to make sure I am accountable to someone when I do
